EFA – A commitment to education

Education For All

For this blog assignment, I chose to investigate into my international website ACEI. On the left side of the website, there is a scrolling presentation that shows some highlights of the website. I had seen this before but never really sat here to look at the different topics that scrolled by. Today, I chose to sit and wait to see what passed by. I saw a link that read, Education for All (EFA) movement: A commitment to provide quality basic education for all children, youth, and adults. Since we have been discussing the topic of equity and excellence in education, this title caught my eye. Once the page opened, at the far bottom was a link for more information. Once I clicked on the link, it took me to the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) website. Through this website I found that UNESCO is in charge of leading the project. The project has come up with six mail goals focused on improving equity and quality in education to be met by 2015. At the World Education Forum that was held in Dakar, 164 governments made the pledge to achieve EFA by their goal date. Through this same site, there are several links to see statistics and more information on the project.

Through this investigation through the ACEI website, I see that equity and quality in education is an ongoing effort in all parts of the world. There are funding issues and resource issues that will present themselves no matter where you go. For the EFA movement, there are 21 different countries helping in funding for less fortunate countries. Throughout the world, we need to look for better ways to fund, invest, apply, advocate, and promote for a better education.

There are so many external links to a variety of organizations and world-wide projects that you could spend hours just surfing from link to link. These links made me realize that there are so many similarities in so many countries. It is so great that that we are all working together for a common goal.

  1. Hi,
I’m glad that you found wonderful information from the organization of your choice. I think doing these blog assignments have been so helpful; being able to use these organizations as resources will definitely prepare me in the education field in the long run. I love your last quote. No matter where we are, children should always be the main topic and main discussion of conversations. They are our future leaders and now is the time to give them the best education possible. Enjoyed reading your post.
