My favorite book! There are many lessons to be learned by one simple story. My students love it and some even get teary eyed by the end.

A book that gives so much

Hi Stephanie,
This is an interesting book indeed with many perspectives about which message is being delivered. We should have a conversation about this some time – let me know.
It looks as though you really enjoy what you are doing as well as the wonderful cultural experiences in which you can participate! Thank you for providing the Spanish names and explanations of the various things you point out.
Thanks Professor Callahan! I am enjoying my experiences here in Colombia. I try to show and explain to everyone that Colombia is not only what the media portrays it to be. This is a beautiful country and would encourage everyone to come and visit 🙂
Stephanie,
I love this book. We have a copy of it as well. I have used it in homeschooling my two daughters. On a professional note, it is a great picture of how needs change and how the “giver” must change to meet those needs.
Very true. My students also pointed out that it was not fair that the boy never gave anything back to the tree. They also compared the tree with a dog in the case that the tree never asked for anything back and still loved the boy unconditionally, just like a dog offers his unconditional love.
Hi Stephanie This a wonderful story to teach our children about sharing. I gave my grandson and each of my nice a copy and they love it.
