That’s what they said!

The following are some quotes that I enjoy. I hope you do too.

(Update 4/21/13)

-“There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million.”  –Walt Streightiff, American author

 – “The more I live, the more I learn. The more I learn, the more I realize, the less I know.” ― Michel Legrand

– “That’s the real trouble with the world, too many people grow up.” ―WALT DISNEY, attributed, The Quotable Walt Disney

– “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” – Benjamin Franklin

My all time favorite quote by John Cotton Dana can clearly define my newest adventure in graduate school….

During an assignment that had us investigating about motivation and passion, I came across this quote by John Hagel that really described what having a passion for teaching is all about.

“Passion is ultimately driven by intrinsic motivation rather than extrinsic rewards.”

Also, we were asked to do a bit of research about some major contributors to the Early Childhood field. Two people that I chose were Dr. Deborah Stipek and Dr. T. Berry Brazelton. The following are some quotes by them that inspired me and gave me a greater understanding for the early childhood field.

“Summer is a time when kids learn through play. It’s not a break from learning. It’s a break from structured learning—and workbooks.” – Deborah Stipek

“Teachers can motivate students only if they themselves are motivated. They can make students feel valued and secure only if they feel valued and secure; they can foster enthusiasm for learning in students only if they are enthusiastic about teaching. The school culture can make or break a teacher in the same way that the classroom culture can support or undermine students’ efforts to learn.”  – Deborah Stipek, Motivation to Learn: From Theory to Practice

“Parents don’t make mistakes because they don’t care, but because they care so deeply.” – T.B. Brazelton

“ A grandchild is a miracle, but a renewed relationship with your own children is even a greater one.” – T.B. Brazelton

All of your quotes are wonderful and I really like T.B.Brazelton “parents don’t make mistakes because the don’t care, but because the care too much and a teacher who dares to teach must never cease to learn.

  2. All of your quotes hit home with me! I especially enjoy your quote from Deborah Stipek. Teaching is such a reflective career, if you are not happy within yourself and do not know how to love yourself first and foremost, how can you teach others to be loved and love in return?
